Statement from PRP Co-Chairs on Senate Progress on ECA Legislation

With the close of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee’s markup of S.4573, the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022, Presidential Reform Project Co-Chairs Bob Bauer and Jack Goldsmith released the following statement:

The Senate Committee’s bipartisan vote today is an extraordinary bipartisan achievement toward urgently needed reform of the Electoral Count Act of 1887. We commend Chairwoman Klobuchar and Ranking Member Blunt for holding today’s successful markup and Sens. Manchin, Collins, and the members of the bipartisan group for their tireless efforts to seek consensus. We look forward to the earliest possible date for Senate passage of the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act, and for the House and Senate to come together to pass this vitally necessary legislation.
